Fun Facts About Bees pt 2

Bees are such interesting little creatures! Here are some more fun & interesting facts about bees:

1. Honeybees perform a "waggle dance" to communicate the location of food sources to other bees in their hive. This dance conveys direction and distance information.

4. Bees can see ultraviolet light, which is invisible to humans. This ability helps them find nectar and pollen in flowers.

5. Bees can sense the electric fields of flowers, which helps them determine if another bee has recently visited the flower and depleted its nectar.

6. There are over 20,000 species of bees worldwide, including honeybees, bumblebees, carpenter bees, and many solitary bee species.

7. In cold weather, bees huddle together and vibrate their muscles to generate heat, maintaining the hive's temperature.

8. Bees play a crucial role in pollinating plants, with about one-third of the food we eat relying on bee pollination.

9. Worker honeybees live for about 5-6 weeks during the busy summer months, while queen bees can live for several years.
