The Heliocopris bucephalus, also known as the Elephant dung beetle, can be found in various countries including India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Malay Peninsula, Java, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Dung beetles are a type of beetle that primarily consumes feces. Some dung beetles are "rollers" that form fecal matter into spherical balls for sustenance or shelter. Other types, known as "tunnelers," bury dung wherever they find it, while "dwellers" simply live in manure. Dung beetles have a unique ability to navigate using the Milky Way, making them one of the few creatures, aside from humans, with this skill. This particular specimen is carefully preserved in a 6" x 6" frame.
