Neptunides polychrous is a large and vividly colored flower beetle from tropical Africa, part of the scarab family (Scarabaeidae). Males display a shimmering metallic green to bronze body with forward-curving horns on the head and thorax, while females are hornless and more compact. Adults feed on fruit, nectar, and tree sap, and their larvae develop in decaying wood. Known for its impressive size and brilliant sheen, this beetle is a favorite among collectors and a classic example of sexual dimorphism in flower beetles. This male & female pair, preserved in a 5“ x 5“ frame, is sure to add that “Wow” your collection has been begging for!
