The spring fishfly (Chauliodes rastricornis) is a big, old-looking bug discovered in North America. It lives most of its life as an underwater baby, munching on tiny creatures in ponds and streams. As grown-ups, they only stick around for a few days or a week in the spring and summer, mainly to make more fishflies. They like staying up late, are drawn to bright lights, and indicate that the water is healthy, though they can be mistaken for mayflies. Comes in a 5”x5” case.
