The Cyrtophora moluccensis, also referred to as the tent spider or dome-web spider, is a visually striking orb-weaver spider that inhabits open landscapes in India, Japan, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia, and various Pacific islands. This unique arachnid is known for its distinctive dome-shaped web, which is not sticky and can be constructed in colonies. When observed, the spider is typically seen hanging upside down in the center of its web, which is often located in shrubs and gardens. Mounted in a 9”x9” frame with an original hand painted canvas by Beth Watson, this specimen is a true showstopper.
