Originally collected and preserved in 1976, this stunning "vintage" specimen of Ornithoptera priamus teucrus radiates luxury and exclusivity. This male specimen is mesmerizing with emerald-green and black wings gleaming with iridescence, while the females, embellished with cream and yellow patterns, are larger and equally breathtaking. Native to the Biak Island in Papua, Indonesia, and belonging to the esteemed Papilionidae family, these spectacular birdwing butterflies are renowned for their size and gem-like colors. The males stand out with their striking emerald green and black hues, captivating the females effortlessly. To indulge their refined food preferences, birdwings visit an array of blossoms for nectar, enhancing their charm. Sourced from a private collection, this "antique" specimen has been meticulously repinned and mounted in 2026, preserving its timeless beauty. The frame measures 9”x9”.
