The Actias luna, or American moon moth, is a Nearctic species of the Saturniidae family, specifically the Saturniinae subfamily. As part of the giant silk moth group, these moths have a relatively short lifespan, usually less than 10 days as adults. This particular specimen is preserved and displayed in a 5”x5” frame.
