Asian Swallowtail

Regular price $100.00

Papilio lowii, also known as the great yellow Mormon or Asian swallowtail, is a Papilionidae butterfly. It was originally described by Herbert Druce in 1873 and is commonly found in areas such as Borneo, Indonesia, and the Philippines (specifically Palawan and Balabac). The larvae of this species feed on citrus plants, while the adults can be seen nectaring on various flowers. Similar to other Mormon butterflies, the adults of P. lowi have evolved to mimic the appearance of inedible red-bodied swallowtails. This exquisite specimen is carefully preserved within a 6” x 6” frame.
