The Morpho aurora butterfly, native to South America, has shimmering blue wings that are renowned for their iridescence. This stunning color is the result of tiny wing scales that reflect light rather than using pigments. The butterfly is not only visually striking, but also a popular choice for artwork and collections. Interestingly, there are over 80 species of morpho butterflies found in different regions of South and Central America, as well as Mexico. The name "morpho" is thought to originate from the butterfly's ability to transform its shape while in flight. This preserved specimen can be admired in a 5” x 5" frame.
