Morpho menelaus, also known as the Menelaus blue morpho, is a magnificent butterfly native to the rainforests of Central and South America, and Mexico. With a wingspan of 12 cm, it boasts striking blue wings contrasted with black borders. The top of the wings is a vibrant blue, created by iridescent scales that reflect light, while the underside is a muted brown with deceptive eyespots for camouflage. This species is part of the larger morpho butterfly family, which comprises over 80 species predominantly found in South and Central America. The name "morpho" is derived from their shape-shifting appearance during flight. This particular specimen is expertly preserved in a stylish 9"x9" frame.
