Nymphalis antiopa is native to Eurasia and North America. L. Hugh Newman likened the butterfly's pattern to a girl who, disliking having to be in mourning, defiantly let a few inches of her bright dress show below her mourning dress.
This specimen is encased in a 3"x4" frame.
