Orange-spotted Fruit Chafer

Regular price $100.00

Mecynorhina passerinii is a large and striking flower beetle in the scarab family (Scarabaeidae), native to Central Africa. Known for its bold metallic colors:  often emerald green, golden, or bronze with pale or dark markings. This species is a favorite among insect collectors. Adults are powerful fliers that feed mainly on fruit and tree sap, while their larvae develop in decaying wood. Like many flower beetles in the subfamily Cetoniinae, M. passerinii plays an ecological role in nutrient recycling and forest health. This beautiful specimen is preserved in a 5“ x 5“ frame.
