Morpho aega, also known as the Aega morpho, is a beautiful Neotropical butterfly native to Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil. It is one of over 80 species of morpho butterflies found mainly in South America, Mexico, and Central America. The name "morpho" is derived from the mesmerizing transformation these butterflies undergo while in flight. This particular specimen is preserved within a 6x6" frame.
